Once a popular movie house along South Granville, the Stanley Theatre is now one of Vancouver’s most frequented live theatre venues and home to the Arts Club Theatre Company. A thoughtful and sustainable renovation of the abandoned heritage cinema in 1999 reserved the setting’s original splendor in the conversion to a live 650-seat theatre venue. Additions included retractable lighting positions over the audience (maintaining the original domed ceiling), full stage, and custom theatrical rigging and drape systems, garnering a Vancouver Heritage Award in 1999.
