One of Vancouver’s oldest standing theatres, the York Theatre, is currently under renovation to revive the 350-seat venue into a performing arts hub for the East Vancouver community. Extensive work is underway to upgrade the outdated fly system, remove the former ceiling to allow for improved acoustic response in the auditorium, extend the apron to accommodate the addition of a motorized orchestra pit, and reconfigure balcony seating for improved audience sightlines.
